Let’s reduce waste with the Bazerdžan Thrift Flip collection!

And now for something completely different:

A selection of quality items that deserve to be loved once again.

As a fashion brand, we were never into the idea of trend-based clothing every few months. For us, the temptation was always to develop a business that has a positive impact on both the local community and our planet in different ways.

We want you to think about what you wear and how you affect your surroundings when shopping for clothes. Whether we achieve it through education about fashion culture, empowerment of local creative people, or promotion of sustainable practices doesn’t really matter as long as we succeed in our mission.

We’re proud to announce the Bazerdžan Thrift Flip collection made of sustainable threads for a sustainable future. For now (we plan on adding more), it consists of three segments:

  • Blazers
  • Skirts
  • Waistcoats

Blazers are made in the cropped style with a classic design and slightly draped contour. During production, we used the leftover materials to create waistcoats for the ladies, which they can wear to amplify their casual or formal look - they’ll fit either way!

As for the skirts, they are made of both men’s and women’s pants, combined to create pencil-like versions that have a bit more flexibility to them.

Why upcycling?

From its very inception, Bazerdžan was meant to lead the rebellion against the throwaway culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sustainability is deeply engraved in what we do, and this collection is another step forward in our mission.

It is made from 100% upcycled items that were sourced and produced locally by our design team in collaboration with local craftswomen. Each piece is unique in the truest sense of the word (thus limited in quantity), which means it’s ideal for those who value originality and individuality above everything else.

In other words, it’s a true Bazerdžan Wear thing.

The Bazerdžan Thrift Flip collection fully reflects those ideas. We won’t allow beautiful blazers, jackets, pants, and whatnot to rot in dumpsters or a landfill - not when we can rejuvenate them and give them a second chance.

As the ultimate recycling upgrade, upcycling is a liberating process of breathing new life into existing clothes instead of creating new ones.

When I say liberating, I really mean it. We absolutely adore going to thrift shops, going through piles of garments, and transforming them into fashionable pieces by adding our touch. It’s like hunting for a treasure, only we regularly end up with a gem in our hands.

Sometimes, we mix two or three pieces to create something new entirely. Other times, we patch, embroider, or print bits and pieces here and there to infuse new life. Every piece we find gets a stylish makeover to some degree - it's all about creatively repurposing yesterday's fashion for today.

Why should you care?

In the US alone, 11.3 million tons of textile waste - equivalent to 85% of all textiles - end up in landfills every year. The EU is even worse as it generates 12.6 million tons per year. And don’t get me started on the tolls of the manufacturing process. It's not a pretty nor healthy picture, both for our planet and wallets.

If the eco-friendly nature of this collection isn’t enough to sway you, how about the fact that a sustainable style is all about individuality?

Fast fashion churns out trends for every season. Are there too many seasons? No - you can’t fight Mother Earth on that. But is there too much clothing being produced en masse? Definitely.

With upcycled clothing, you get one-of-a-kind items. You won't find another outfit exactly like yours, literally, so you can express your unique style with ease.

Look at it this way: when you purchase an item from this collection (and Bazerdžan in general), you know what you’re paying for - sustainable, eco-friendly clothing that reduces waste and the development of local artists and designers.

Plus, you'll be rocking clothes with a history, a story of transformation and conscious consumption. If that isn’t some serious trendsetting power, I don’t know what is.
